The idea behind the work is to sonify a mythical wind instrument from Icelandic folklore, supposedly owned by Sæmundr the Learned and used to summon imps and demons. Air sounds filtered through the instruments are used with pitched material to construct melodic fragments that gradually evoke the presence of the playful otherworldly creatures.

Premiered by Earth Ears Ensemble at GÁTT Nordic Arts Festival in Helsinki on August 23rd 2024.
