eme (2020) for cello, guitar and electronics was commissioned by cellist Teemu Mastovaara who premiered the piece with guitarist Lauri Antikainen. In this concert the duo will present a new version of the piece with electric guitar. The title of the piece does not express a meaning but can be seen as a logogram showing two entities that are simultaneously connected and separated. The piece presents the listener with two successive sections – each section consisting of a soundscape sonically contrasting from the other. Throughout the piece these soundscapes reveal themselves to be spaces for the musicians to gradually find expressivity that was absent from the music at the beginning.
