animistic rituals is a practice developed by composer Thorkell Nordal and guitarist Mark Reid Bulatović. Born from a devotion of bringing to life the inanimate (the guitar); a process is carried out through a series of profane “rituals” dissolving the boundaries between performer and instrument.

In concert this process manifests as an evolving repertoire of sonic gestures, which create impressions of speech — perhaps a sermon of vast and intimate impetus.

Whilst not fully translatable into words, semantic patterns suggest that something is being expressed. Begging us to ask, how would an instrument speak if it could? What would it say? And importantly, how would it feel by the way it is treated?
